However, it is important to note that in a storm, the mooring lines can break and you may find your boat damaged.<\/p><\/div><div><p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>With dry winterization,<\/strong> your boat is taken out of the water and stored on a trailer - either at your home or at a professional dry port. <strong>This practice is more economical, in the long run, than wintering afloat since you don't have to pay the berth fee<\/strong> by leaving the boat afloat. Moreover <strong>the advantages offered by dry wintering are numerous: on land, for example, your boat hull is protected from the effects of sea water.<\/strong><\/p><\/div><div><p class=\"translation-block\"><b>With winterization afloat, your boat's hull remains constantly exposed to the water<\/strong>of the sea<\/b> and risks on the one hand,<strong> corrosion <\/strong>by salt and on the other hand,<strong>the accumulation of shells and algae. Unless you dry winterize your boat by storing it directly at home, <strong>your boat may be prone to theft of the non-integrated equipment.<\/strong> So think about bringing and storing this equipment at home!<\/p><\/div><div><p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Think also about your safety equipment such as life jackets or distress flares : <\/strong>it is important to take the time to check their condition, the expiration date and replace them if necessary.
